Logistics

Logistics

The Physical Internet. Customised manufacturing. Crowd-sharing. Like most other industries, logistics is currently facing immense disruption. New technology, new market entrants, new customer expectations and new business models are forcing logistics companies to adapt or die.
Pharmaceuticals is one of the main Swiss industries with over 250 pharma companies based throughout the country, ranging from start-ups and SMEs all the way through to multinationals. How can you transport temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals through the regular parcel channel and be sure that the medication is viable when it reaches its destination?

The global pharmaceutical industry spent $13.4 billion shipping temperature-sensitive biopharmaceuticals in 2017, but the World Health Organization estimated that up to 40% of vaccines shipped worldwide degraded due to temperature variation during transport. The landscape for logistics within pharma shifted globally when Switzerland-based high tech firm, Skycell, created an IoT and blockchain-enabled refrigerated air freight container especially for biopharmaceuticals.
The importance of the logistics industry to the global economy cannot be overstated. By 2023, the market will grow to ยฃ15.5tn, with an estimated 54.5bn tonnes of goods being moved annually. As the global economy has expanded following a slowdown at the start of the decade, logistics has become increasingly more important.

There are a number of professional bodies available to logistics professionals in Switzerland such as the International Institute for the Management of Logistics and Supply Chain (IML) and SPEDLOGSWISS, in addition to leading global body, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). These bodies offer members access to a unique range of benefits and unbeatable services designed to support their members, personally and professionally, throughout their career.

Our consultants are specialists in their markets, recruiting top talent for the logistics jobs market throughout Switzerland and Europe.
